Review: Angel Bait (Angel Assassins, #0.5) by Tricia Skinner

Angel Bait
Urban Fantasy - Paranormal Romance - Angels

Original Publication: February 18, 2013 by Crimson Romance, an imprint of F+W Media.
Paranormal Romance. 65,000 words. 227 ebook pages

Saved by the angel sent to kill them, four half-angel boys are trained and employed as Heaven's assassins. Jarrid and his nephilim brothers are raised as members of The Eternal Order, and must enforce Heaven's laws by hunting down those who defy the Directorate.

His only shot at freedom is Ascension, but his employers won't permit the ancient ritual. Then Jarrid learns a Renegade angel is in Detroit. Such a high-level take-down is the answer to his prayers—all the leverage he needs to Ascend.

For freedom, Jarrid is willing to do anything to lure his elusive enemy out of hiding.

Even use an innocent woman as bait.

News reporter Ionie Gifford has no clue an angel outlaw wants her dead. She agrees to help Jarrid, the enigmatic nephilim with penetrating silver eyes and a worship-worthy body, but only because he accepts her terms. He's her all-access pass into the city's supernatural underworld where she hopes to locate her mother's killer.

Blindsided by Ionie's beauty and tenacity, Jarrid soon finds the eternity-old glacier around his heart thawing. With duty and desire at war within him, he's forced to make a choice—either save Ionie from the trap he snared and stay chained to Heaven, or allow her to become collateral damage.

Wow! I loved it! Angel Bait is the prequel to Angel Kin. Yes their are some discrepancies between the prequel and the book Angel Kin, due to the author being with a different publisher for Angel Bait. The discrepancies do not take away from the story. We get action, adventure, incite into Heaven, the brother's and love that heals old wounds.

Jarrid, a Nephilim, an assassin is closed off from his emotions. He see's his job as a way to show Heaven that he and his brother's are worthy and not abominations as everyone see's them as. I liked Jarrid and his growth as a character. Once he hooks up with Ionie things start to change inside him and he questions himself. I liked the struggle he faced. Ionie, a reporter, an open minded intelligent women. I liked Ionie and her way of thinking as well as her strength of character. I liked the way the attraction was built; between Jarrid and Ionie, you felt the connection. The sex scene is sensual and well written. Ms. Skinner had me fanning myself.

I enjoyed learning more about the brother's and why they are Heavens assassins as well as getting to see into the past through Tanis eyes. I enjoyed this eye opener experience were we get to learn more about the Renegades, Nephilim and Watchers. I did not expect to see Heaven as the not so open minded place as we think it is. It's an interesting twist. I can't wait for more books to see how this plays out. We get good starter descriptions of the brothers and their personalities. I hope this series gets to play out and each brother gets his own book. I look forward to reading more books in the Angel Assassins series.

It's always so hard to choose a favorite, but Jaguars are amazing! Jaguars are the largest of South America's big cats. These beautiful and powerful beasts were prominent in ancient Native American cultures. In some traditions the Jaguar God of the Night was the formidable lord of the underworld.

Terry Spearis one of many authors that writes about shifters. She is also one of my favorites! This month she released Silence of the Wolf "Heart of the Wolf" #13 another great shifter series. Check out my review HERE!

Critical Intelligence had some funny moments to I really enjoyed.  My favorite is the first quote the moment someone learns they are going to be a daddy I had to smile it reminded me of the day our son was born and how my hubby cried and passed out after he was born. ^_^  Check out my review here!

" Nothing is wrong." Green smiled. "Well, not unless you consider being a father a bad thing."      "Being a father?"       "I'm going to be a ..." Darkness swallowed him whole as he passed out cold. ~ Critical Intelligence by Mandy M…
