Review: Kitty Goes to Washington (Kitty Norville, #2) by Carrie Vaughn

Kitty Goes to Washington
Parnormal Romance - Urban Fantasy - Shapeshifters

Celebrity werewolf and late-night radio host Kitty Norville prefers to be heard and not seen. So when she's invited to testify at a Senate hearing on behalf of supernaturals, and her face gets plastered on national TV, she inherits a new set of friends, and enemies, including the vampire mistress of the city; an ├╝ber-hot Brazilian were-jaguar; and a Bible-thumping senator who wants to expose Kitty as a monster. Kitty quickly learns that in this city of dirty politicians and backstabbing pundits, everyone's itching for a fight.

~ 3 Stars ~

Kitty Goes to Washington is book two in Carrie Vaughn's series "Kitty Norville". It is an improvement from the first book Kitty and the Midnight Hour. We still have the radio aspect which I really enjoy. The hummer helps lighting the mood and I get the impression that Kitty is intelligent and well-read.

I still have some issues with the series. Like her thinking that her pack was nice. Her pack was not all that great! The reminiscing at the begging of the book got me frustrated. Yes, she has lost her pack mate and best friend TJ, she's been kicked out of her pack and now has to do her radio show on the road. The other thing that got on my nerves is one minute she was sure of herself (mostly when on the air behind her microphone) and the next she was shying away scared of the world. She keeps having to fight herself/wolf to stay human and stand her ground.
With this second installment it was a much more entertaining read. I want to continue the series and see where things go. Though it's not a series I will be re-reading and I still have some issues with Kitty.
Borrowed from my local library. Support your library!

  1. Glad to hear it was a bit better than book one. I think this'll probably be one if I continue will be a library borrow.

    1. I love my library. I borrow almost everything from the library. If I then really love the author or the series then I'll put it on my purchase especially if I know I'll be reading it again and again.
I'm hoping the series keeps improving. It's got about 12 books out now and 2 to come.

  2. You know, when I started reading this series it was before the ebook explosion when there were fewer options (especially in the realm of UF). I probably wouldn't have made it past the first book otherwise, but I did for lack of options, and then I just got into a Carrie Vaughn groove. There were at least 8 books out back then, and I found myself progressively liking them more and more. They'll never be favorites or anything, but I did enjoy them. I'm glad you liked this one better than the first, and I hope you'll keep liking them too.

    1. Thanks Jessica. I did not look to see when they where released. I just noticed last year this series and several reviews of people liking it books, that I looked on goodreads and saw its got 12 books out and 2 more due to come out. I do hope it keeps improving. I like Kitty as a character. I want her to be more confident and not so wishy washy. I'll keep going but its not high on my to-read yet.

I love all things Shifter! It's always so hard to choose a favorite, but Jaguars are amazing! Jaguars are the largest of South America's big cats. These beautiful and powerful beasts were prominent in ancient Native American cultures. In some traditions the Jaguar God of the Night was the formidable lord of the underworld.

Terry Spearis one of many authors that writes about shifters. She is also one of my favorites! This month she released Silence of the Wolf "Heart of the Wolf" #13 another great shifter series. Check out my review HERE!

Critical Intelligence had some funny moments to I really enjoyed.  My favorite is the first quote the moment someone learns they are going to be a daddy I had to smile it reminded me of the day our son was born and how my hubby cried and passed out after he was born. ^_^  Check out my review here!

" Nothing is wrong." Green smiled. "Well, not unless you consider being a father a bad thing."      "Being a father?"       "I'm going to be a ..." Darkness swallowed him whole as he passed out cold. ~ Critical Intelligence by Mandy M…
