Review: Kitty and the Midnight Hour (Kitty Norville, #1) by Carrie Vaughn

Kitty and the Midnight Hour
Parnormal Romance - Urban Fantasy - Shapeshifters

Kitty Norville is a midnight-shift DJ for a Denver radio station - and a werewolf in the closet. Her new late-night advice show for the supernaturally disadvantaged is a raging success, but it's Kitty who can use some help. With one sexy werewolf-hunter and a few homicidal undead on her tail, Kitty may have bitten off more than she can chew?

~ 2.5 Stars ~

I enjoyed "Kitty and the Midnight Hour", thou it had it's down sides to it as well. I hope the character Kitty grows up more in the series, for she does seam to have potentinal and from what I see the series did take off.

The plot was interesting with assassins, fake faith healers peddling a cure, disappearing vampires and the revaluation that supernaturals do exist in the world. The beginning of the book I was a little disgusted with the characters. The end though totally suppressed and annoyed me.

I liked the radio talk show aspect and Kitty's personality on the air, but off the air she has/had issues. Though Kitty does grow up some and realizes some key things about herself and the pack.

I did not like the third person talk when in wolf form. It was interesting, but did not work so much for me. I also did not like the pack and it's mentality. I hope all pack's in this series are not like that. I'm a little spooled with Patricia Briggs & Terry Spears werewolf's.

All and all this was an ok read! I hope the next book in the series is an improvement. I will give it a try!

  1. It's been a while, but I don't remember being too impressed with this one either. I do recall the series getting better, but I honestly don't know if it was b/c it truly got better, or if I was bored enough that I didn't care, lol. Here's hoping it actually got better! Great review :)

    1. Thanks Jessica for stoping bye. I'm hopping it gets better. Lots of people like it and well its got a lot of books out. The only thing I enjoy about it so far is the radio aspect and that's not much to enjoy a book on.

  2. I had a hard time with this one too. I never went on to the rest of the series but do eventually plan on trying the next one. The Pack from what I remember (this has been a few years now) really bothered me. But like you I'm used to Patricia Briggs and Shelly Laurenston and others like them who have amazing Packs.

    1. Ya I'm spoiled with Packs. I <3 Patricia Briggs and Shelly Laurenston. It's so hard not to compare Packs to them when reading a new book series.

I love all things Shifter! It's always so hard to choose a favorite, but Jaguars are amazing! Jaguars are the largest of South America's big cats. These beautiful and powerful beasts were prominent in ancient Native American cultures. In some traditions the Jaguar God of the Night was the formidable lord of the underworld.

Terry Spearis one of many authors that writes about shifters. She is also one of my favorites! This month she released Silence of the Wolf "Heart of the Wolf" #13 another great shifter series. Check out my review HERE!

Critical Intelligence had some funny moments to I really enjoyed.  My favorite is the first quote the moment someone learns they are going to be a daddy I had to smile it reminded me of the day our son was born and how my hubby cried and passed out after he was born. ^_^  Check out my review here!

" Nothing is wrong." Green smiled. "Well, not unless you consider being a father a bad thing."      "Being a father?"       "I'm going to be a ..." Darkness swallowed him whole as he passed out cold. ~ Critical Intelligence by Mandy M…
