Review: Valiant (New Species, #3) by Laurann Dohner

Parnormal Romance - Erotica - 18+ Adult

Valiant (New Species, #3)

Tammy has always tried to be prepared for any calamity life might send her way but she never imagined a sexy, lion man-beast in her future. He's huge, got the most exotic, golden cat-eyes she's ever seen, and she's so terrified she's speechless for the first time in her life. He's stalking closer, growling at her, and she's too terrified to even flee.

Valiant hates humans. But when he gets a whiff of the adorable human female who has invaded his territory, he starts rethinking. Her fear scents of pure, sweet temptation and the closer he gets, the more appealing she becomes. Once he's got his hands on her, he isn't about to let her go. One thought will change his life. MINE Before Tammy can regain her senses, she's flat on her back in Valiant's bed. Now he just has to use every inch of his big, buff body to convince her that she should stay with him forever.

Reader Advisory: While this book may be read as a standalone, the background story is best enjoyed when the books in this series are read in sequential order.

~ 4 Valiant Stars ~

“I've decided I’m keeping you forever. You’re mine."

I have had a hard time getting into "New Species" series by Laurann Dahner. It reminds me of Lora Leigh’s “Breeds" series, but not as good. Each book has been a 3 star for me, but book 3 “Valiant” impressed me and was an improvement over the first two books in the series.

This story starts off with a chance meeting between Tammy and Valiant… that was never meant to happen.

Valiant is known for his hatred of humans; because of the treatment he received in captivate and his fierce and pronounced New Species looks. After so much time alone he is ready to find a mate to fill his loneliness preferably with a New Species female. All his planing goes to hell once he smells Tammy and the only thing he can think is MINE and I have to keep her forever.
“He’s spent a lifetime locked in a dank cell, hurting most of the time, and always so lonely.”

Tammy’s motto in life is “shit happens”. She has a very active mind and every day she thinks about all the possible bad things that could happen to her, but a chance meeting with a New Species changed her life. She is no pushover with her stubbornness and need to fill her every breath with blabber, even with her growing feelings for Valiant she is still hesitant to commit to a forever kind of relationship.

The plot and character development has improved in the third installment. I felt that Valiant and Tammy complement each other. We get to learn more about the New Species and the hate group.

I love all things Shifter! It's always so hard to choose a favorite, but Jaguars are amazing! Jaguars are the largest of South America's big cats. These beautiful and powerful beasts were prominent in ancient Native American cultures. In some traditions the Jaguar God of the Night was the formidable lord of the underworld.

Terry Spearis one of many authors that writes about shifters. She is also one of my favorites! This month she released Silence of the Wolf "Heart of the Wolf" #13 another great shifter series. Check out my review HERE!

Critical Intelligence had some funny moments to I really enjoyed.  My favorite is the first quote the moment someone learns they are going to be a daddy I had to smile it reminded me of the day our son was born and how my hubby cried and passed out after he was born. ^_^  Check out my review here!

" Nothing is wrong." Green smiled. "Well, not unless you consider being a father a bad thing."      "Being a father?"       "I'm going to be a ..." Darkness swallowed him whole as he passed out cold. ~ Critical Intelligence by Mandy M…
